In 1974-1975, Porsche followed up the legendary 1973 Carrera RS with the launch of the updated new G-series body MFI Carrera 911, which included the ’short‘ hood, new impact-resistant front and rear bumpers, a non-reflective filler strip between the taillights, unobtrusive side rockers, a front spoiler that improved high-speed stability and wider fenders to accommodate larger staggered Fuchs forged alloy wheels 6” x 15” front and 7” x 15” rear. The most important distinction was the impressive 210-horsepower 2.7-liter flat six-cylinder (Type 911/83) from the previous 1973 Carrera RS, with Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI). New smog and fuel-efficiency regulations precluded these 2.7 “MFI” Carreras from being imported to the United States. Instead, US-spec Carrera 2.7 models were given the significantly less powerful 2.7-liter flat-six from the 911 S with 165 horsepower. The Carrera 2.7 MFI Coupe was a rarity in the rest of the world, with a limited production of only 518 examples for 1975.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

This 2.7 MFI Coupe was an Italian delivery, originally finished in Viper Green Metallic exterior with a Black interior. Number 362 retains its matching engine and transmission, and the factory options include a Rear Wiper, White Fog Lights, an Adjustable Door Mirror, Tinted Windows, an Electric Sunroof, and a tail delete for Italy.

The paintwork is in stunning condition with Black Carrera script down the sides and Black centers on the Fuch alloy wheels with anodized lips. Both the body and undercarriage are solid and rust-free. The paintwork is in beautiful condition with black Carrera script and trim. The interior is also in exceptional condition with a black dash with no cracks, a leather-wrapped VDM Carrera steering wheel, leather seats with shetland inserts, VDO instrumentation, and a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 radio equipped with Bluetooth capabilities. The 911 MFI is fitted with staggered Fuchs alloy wheels with black spokes and center caps and anodized lips mounted to Pirelli CN36 Cinturato 185 70 R15 front and 215 60 R15 rear tires. The undercarriage is solid and rust-free and finished in the factory undercoat.

According to the previous owner, the first owner, Renzo Beltramelli, special-ordered the 2.7 MFI in Viper Green Metallic, featuring black leatherette with Shetland inlays, an electric sunroof, a Blaupunkt Bamberg radio, a rear wiper, tinted windows, and fog lights. Mr. Beltramelli’s enterprise held the exclusive waste collection contract for the Aosta region in Northern Italy. Subsequently, the MFI is reported to have transitioned through three additional Italian custodians in the Piedmont region. In 2014, the 911 MFI was acquired from an elderly gentleman in Turin, Italy, and it was found to be an excellent candidate for restoration. In a collection of approximately 40 Porsches, the 911 MFI underwent a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration, during which time it was reverted to its original specifications. Intended to serve as the quintessential weekend driving vehicle, the collector, regrettably, passed away before the restoration was completed.

In 2019, Mike Fletcher Engineering was commissioned to perform a comprehensive rebuild of the engine and transmission. The engine was disassembled and resealed with new gaskets. Bearing clearances and ring gaps were meticulously measured, and all the surfaces were inspected and refaced. The engine components, including bearings, rings, chains, and guides, were in excellent condition. The valve seats were reworked, and the heights of the valve springs were checked and adjusted. All the sheet metal components were powder-coated, and the fan and fuel pump belts were replaced. The airbox and manifolds were resealed with new gaskets. Adjustments were made to the MFI pump, the timing was set, and the cold start and hot mixtures were fine-tuned. The transmission was completely disassembled, and all new synchro’s were installed along with new locking sliders. New shaft lock nuts were installed, the fork adjustment was recalibrated, and new high-tensile bolts were installed. On August 19, 2024, at 4,898 km, BS Motorsport serviced the electric sunroof, the fuel tank sending unit, the speedometer cable, and the engine mounts were all replaced, and new Pirelli CN36 tires were installed.

Mechanically powered by the matching 2.7-liter six-cylinder engine No. 6650502 (Type 911/83) with Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI), 8.5:1 compression ratio, 210 horsepower @ 6300 rpm with 188.4 foot-pounds torque @ 5,100 rpm. The transmission is a manual 5-speed (Type 915/43) with a four-wheel disc braking system. Total unloaded weight is 2370 pounds (1075 kg), 0-100Km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.3 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph).

This is a rare opportunity for any collector to acquire a Porsche 911 MFI Euro Carrera in beautiful condition cosmetically and mechanically. It is turn-key ready for its next owner. The 1975 Carrera MFI has the same weight and engine that powered the 1973 911 RS Carrera at a fraction of the price. Complete with a copy of the original vehicle order, owner’s manual, two keys, Porsche letter of origin, and recent service records. It is a great addition to any collection in a stunning color combination, and it is truly a blast to drive!
