The charm of a F-series from the outside with the more modern base of a G-series underneath. Our 911 ‚backdate‘, based on a 911 SC, has been modified to combine the look of a first-generation 911 with the modernity, performance and increased versatility of a G-series. The transformation has been meticulously carried out, with a host of finely-executed interior and exterior details.
Born 3.0 SC and put on the road on 18 January 1980, our model now has 168,000 kilometers on the clock, proven by the invoice file and all the technical checks. With a total of 45,000 euros worth of restoration (invoices present) and transformation carried out by the Julia 911 workshop in 2015, a Spanish garage renowned for its Porsche conversions, this example is the perfect compromise between retro style and versatility thanks to its G series platform. Photo file of the transformation available, vehicle matching numbers, technical inspection and favorable histovec report.
ENGINE AND GEARBOX
The generation differences becomes apparent once you open the rear bonnet. The engine is still the original 3.0-litre flat 6 with an approximate output of 180 bhp, and is very pleasant to use with its smooth 5-speed gearbox. The stainless-steel exhaust adds to the driving experience. A file of invoices shows the work carried out on the vehicle before and after its conversion. More recently, a major service and several maintenance operations were carried out in May 2023 at Dad’s little garage in Crest, including changing the clutch, engine flywheel, working on the windows, etc. This work has made the car ready to drive.
EXTERIOR
Dressed in Slate Grey, the bodywork is made partly of polyester and is in perfect condition thanks to the paintwork that was redone when the car was converted. The chrome contrasts with the grey and is in very good condition. There is a single ’shell‘ rear-view mirror on the driver’s side, front and rear bumpers in line with those of an F-series, functional fog lamps and beautiful new fuch wheels (stripped and repainted) to complete the car’s backdate look; these details are neat and well finished. A double central rear tailpipe adds to the sporty look at the rear. The underpinnings are in very good condition, with no exterior defects to be deplored.
INTERIOR
The clever blend of 70s and 80s elements is most apparent inside. The five black meters with green lettering, a 1970s-style gear lever, the removal of the center console and the installation of ‚Torino‘ semi-buckets echoing the 911 S in black leatherette and houndstooth fabric are all very well integrated into this modified interior. Overall, the interior is in very good condition, with only minor signs of use. Contrary to the photos, a 1969 blaupunkt radio has been fitted and completes the interior perfectly.
CONSUMABLES
The Bridgestone S-02 tyres, size 225/50 ZR16, date from the conversion and are in very good condition, as is the braking system, which has recently been refurbished (new discs and pads).
