Porsche finally did what many enthusiasts had been clamoring about for years – Put the GT3 engine in the mid-engine platform, and see what it can really do from the factory. And the Cayman based GT4 RS delivers on every level.
The GT4 RS brings an extreme level of performance for the street or track. Utilizing the 4.0L naturally aspirated engine from the 992 GT3, it retains the 9K RPM redline, putting out 493hp and 331 lb.-ft. or torque. Coupled with the shortest geared 7-speed PDK box to date, this car is blistering fast with a 0-60 of 2.9 seconds, and a quarter mile of 11.0 seconds at almost 126mph. Since this is less of a drag race king and more of a nimble track toy – how about these numbers; 23.6 seconds faster than a standard GT4 around the Nurburgring, and 8 seconds faster than a 991.2 GT3 on the same course. That is crazy quick.
In comparison to the 718 based GT4, the RS has bigger brakes, 49 fewer pounds, wider front and rear tracks, and more rear camber. Its more aggressive aero elements contribute up to 220 pounds of downforce at 124 mph. One starts to get a sense of how the car is 20 plus seconds faster than the base GT4 around that track.
This beautifully finished example here with us now was originally delivered through Porsche Bellingham in Washington State to its first and only owner. It is showing less than 225 miles on the odometer. According to the itemized window sticker, the car was delivered with the following factory options:
- GT Silver Metallic
- Leather/Race-Tex Interior in Black with Arctic Grey Stitching
- Weissach Package
- Wheels Painted in Silver
- Front Axle Lift System
- Seat Belts in Arctic Grey
- LED Headlights incl. PDLS
- Bose Surround Sound System
- Chrono Package
GT Silver is an amazing shade of silver that has depth in the sun, but is also subtle overall in the flesh. It is an “upcharge” color on the GT4 RS, and we are glad it was selected! The car is in perfect as new condition throughout as you would expect with the mileage. The Weissach Package option brings to the exterior visuals – the exposed carbon front hood, air intakes (quarter windows), intake blades behind the doors, rear wing and the titanium tail pipe trim, as well as the Porsche lettering on the rear window.
Massive brakes are covered by the factory lightweight forged aluminum wheels. These wheels are 20” in diameter and measure 8.5” in width up front and a massive 11” in the rear. The wheels are then wrapped in Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires (245 section width up front, 295 in the rear), providing all the “stick” you need for the track or the back canyon roads this weekend.
The interior is all business with a touch of luxury. The black leather interior has splashes of Race-Tex and alcantara, and highlights of Artic Grey stitching and seat belts in our example here. The Weissach Package on the interior brings the bespoke stitching on the seat headrests, a badge on the passenger side dash, and exposed carbon air intake runners behind your head. Can we talk about the engine air intake noise now? Surreal. Heavenly. Some of the best noises ever in a modern street car. We are fans.
This GT4 RS is now offered with the original window sticker, both keys, delivery items, and a set of owner’s manuals.
