Porsche 356 SC

The car was invoiced to Autogerma in September 1964 and registered in March 1965 in the name of Innocenzo Ferraris, the first owner. The color was, and is, Irish Green with fawn interior and no extra option.
In December 1970, the current owner saw an advert in the Quattroruote magazine from the authorised Porsche workshop “Karl Clauss” offering this car for sale; after a first phone call, he was redirected to the owner with whom he concluded the deal few days later and drove the car to Bologna, complete with certification from the Clauss workshop of the engine overhauled at 65,000km, about 30,000km before.
The love for this 356 ignited immediately, after just few hours when the car was portrayed parked under the house in the photos we can see above. Even though this was not the only 356 in the garage, but rather the replacement of a B Super coupé, which was paired for some time. In April 1971, as usual, the 356 SC cabrio was re-registered with the province of Bologna, replacing the first registration in Milan.

During the following years, the car was enriched with various strictly original Porsche accessories, such as the radio, chrome rims, servo-horn, headlights and the hard top purchased new at Autogerma (Italian Porsche importer, in Bologna) and mounted during the winters in both the green and contrasting versions – silver metallic – as it still appears today. The original ski rack, however, was inherited from the old 356 B coupé.
Although the 356 was prematurely judged „outdated“ after the success of the 911, it seemed rather snobbish to drive around with the original Porsche project, the “one but gold” 4 cylinders: this is why several Italian enthusiasts of the model decided to join together in a club at the beginning of the 80s, which officially became the Registro Italiano 356; there were less than twenty members, but the foundations had been laid for what is now an official Club recognized and esteemed by Porsche Italia. Given his burning passion, the owner of our 356 could only become its president, organizing events, rallies, trips around Europe with hit beloved SC Cabrio as a fil-rouge: our beautiful 356 is also immortalized in a legendary photo with Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche!

In the 90s the time had come to restore the car, after years of intense use: the car was entrusted to the expert hands of Carrozzeria Serattini, which had already specialized in the restoration of Porsche 356s for some time; the car was not in bad condition, it was in good driving conditions, but it was still brought to sheet metal, replacing some rusted components. The engine was overhauled by Marchetti, a well known workshop in the Porsche world, while the interior and the soft top were replaced with only and exclusively original spare parts and materials. Here the original fawn interior was no longer available, while a black NOS interior was found.
With the arrival of a 911 in the garage of the owner, together with the never-finished restoration work, the use of the 356 SC cabrio was extremely limited, until a couple of years ago: at almost 60 years old, the car was refreshed in its original exterior color, Irish green, preserving the excellent engine by Marchetti which runs perfectly and the famous original black interior. The rest of the car is perfectly the same as it appeared in the old photos taken by its passionate owner.

This is not the right car for those who want to invest in historic cars, but it is perfect for real Porsche lovers, 356 enthusiasts, people able to understand the rarity and quality of a car unique in terms of condition and history. We don’t hide that we would have preferred to keep it in our private collection both for the car itself, and for the friendship that has bound us for years to the owner. Needless to say, an Italian buyer is preferred over a foreign one so as to maintain the history and Italian license plates.

The car is delivered directly by the second owner with a hard-top (silver metallic) and ski rack, tool kit, original instruction booklet and pouch, double keys and historical documentation. The Porsche certificate of origin, a copy of the Quattroruote issue with the car advertisement complete the package.
