Beautifully preserved after decades of use and maintenance, this 1964 Porsche 356 C Coupe retains its original Light Ivory paint over an exceptional original red leatherette interior. An Illinois-based car for much of its life, this 356 benefits from the meticulous care of just four owners since new. With only 40,256 original miles on the odometer, the Porsche was a seasonal driver and evidently very well cared for.
This desirable disc-brake 356 C retains its matching-numbers engine (type 616/15) and four-speed manual transaxle. In recent years, this example has been looked after in a prominent Porsche collection with the trusted Chicago-based workshop, The Last Detail, looking after the car for a majority of the past several years.
This 356 is an absolute joy to operate and functions exactly as Porsche intended.
The interior of this 356 C Coupe is especially original and shows limited signs of use or age. From the original carpet, headliner and vinyl trim work to the condition of the steering wheel and dash knobs, it’s evident this car is truly a low-mileage survivor.
The paint presents exceptionally well and has few minor blemishes, making it among the best original paint examples we’ve seen. Paint meter readings, which can be shared on request, show consistent original paint measurements of roughly 3.5 to 6 mils throughout. We see only minor evidence of touch up, and only small scuffs and chips. It’s even possible the wheels retain their original factory paint as well.
The body is sound and solid with no signs of corrosion or damage while the underside sheet metal remains entirely original. All numbered and dated components are correct and original throughout. Accompanying the sale is an original Porsche driver’s manual, original tool kit as well as the Kartex, CoA and other records.
This is genuinely one of the best unrestored 356s we’ve had the pleasure to offer.
