Das Fahrzeug im Detail

This 356B Carrera 2 Coupe was completed at the Porsche factory on April 11, 1963, and delivered new through AutoHaus-Gramling in Karlsruhe, Germany. While in Europe this Carrera 2 enjoyed its first three owners.

Migrating to the United States by the 1980s, this Carrera was in the ownership Mr. T Vernen of Knox, Pennsylvania. At the time Mr. Knox worked with the well-known and incredible respected Porsche 4-cam specialist Gerry McCarthy, owner of Kam Motor Sports in Waterbury, Connecticut. Soon thereafter, this Carrera emigrated once again, this time to the West Coast, Paradise Valley, Arizona. It was enjoying this ownership from 2008 to 2014.

An extensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration was performed from 2009-2011. The engine, chassis, and body panel stampings correspond to Porsche original factory documents. At this time, the powerful 2.0 liter Type 587 4-cam Carrera engine was refreshed by Richardson Restoration & Machine Werks, Phoenix, Arizona. The restoration was nothing short of exceptional and to concours standards.

In 2015, this Carrera was purchased by a well-known Los Angeles hotelier with an exquisite collection of European sports cars of which this Carrera joined. The Carrera spent the following six years in the collection until the owners passing.

Circa 2021, its most recent custodian sourced this 356 Carrera 2 Coupe through well-known Porsche specialists, European Collectibles, Costa Mesa, California. It then became part of a superb Wisconsin collection.

Accumulating approximately 5,000 miles since restoration, this well-documented and maintained Carrera 2 is a highly desirable example of one of Porsche’s most important vintage road machines. It is complete with its tool kit and jack as well as aforementioned Kardex and COA.

One of approximately 251 examples of the 356B Carrera 2 made in total, this is an opportunity to purchase rare vintage Porsche 356 4-cam. Eligible and a welcomed addition to any of the many worldwide vintage concours or tour-rally events, this 356 Carrera warrants consideration by any serious Porsche enthusiast and collector alike.
