The 356 Super 90 was one of Porsche’s fastest production cars, overshadowed only by the rare and mechanically complex four-cam Carreras. First appearing in late 1959 with the introduction of the T5 body update, Super 90s boasted an additional 15 horsepower over the 1600 Super and were considerably more expensive when new. The Super 90’s Type 616/7 pushrod engine used the same big 40-millimeter Solex twin-choke carburetors as the 2.0-liter Carrera engine. Additionally, Super 90s were equipped with Koni shocks and a rear camber compensator spring as standard.
