The History
The Porsche 356 represented the road to eternal glory in automotive history for the most famous German carmaker in the world. It all began in 1948, when a certain Ferdinand Porsche undertook to build a sports car based on the Volkswagen Beetle. Built with boxed elements welded to the frame, to form a single body, it already had good aerodynamics that allowed it to reach 140 kph with only 40 HP of power given by the mechanics derived from Volkswagen.
In the wake of a consolidated success, in 1956, the 356 was replaced by the 356 A, presented on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Porsche. Further perfected, it was launched on the market with five four-cylinder engines. The modifications to the car were part of the „technical program 1“ (T1), and it differed aesthetically from the first 356 in a curved, one-piece panoramic windscreen.
The Porsche 356 is the emblem of simplicity, mechanics and aesthetics. The design of the car is simple but not spartan: elegant both in the interior and in the lines of the body, it is powered by a propulsion engine, so called from the name of the manufacturer Ernst Fuhrmann, which was characterized by four overlying camshafts, driven by the shaft. vertical return. The 1600, 4-cylinder boxer, air-cooled with just 60 HP, is smooth and reliable.
