Built to 70 percent scale, this 917 Children’s Car is powered by a 230-cubic-centimetre petrol engine that produces 9 bhp and is operated by a key start. The car can reach speeds of up to 28 mph, although the motor can be restricted if desired. Styled on the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning car driven by Ricard “Dickie” Attwood, impressive engineering detail extends to the rack-and-pinion steering, front spring suspension, and single piston brakes, while a 2:1 reduction gearbox and a wet clutch form the transmission.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

The chassis is a powder-coated lightweight tubular construction, and the bodywork is moulded fibreglass, serving as a faithful tribute to the iconic 917 “Kurzheck” Porsche. The machine rides on 10-inch wheels with pneumatic tyres. The interior is finished with bare aluminium panels, and there is a mini bucket seat for the driver. A quick-release steering wheel is fitted, as well as working headlights and rear cooling fan, just like its full-scale counterpart. The overall dimensions are 2.6 metres in length by 1.6 metres in width.

This 917 Children’s Car will suit drivers from as young as five years old up to fully grown adults, with the child’s seat removed. It also has a removable roof section that allows taller drivers to get behind the wheel.
