History:

This 356 Speedster replica was built by an independent French coachbuilder in 2004 in Pas-de-Calais. The vehicle is based on a 1970 Beetle chassis and registration. The chassis was shortened by 29.7 cm to match the exact dimensions of the original 356s. It was built for personal use, with great care, and was sold in 2014 to the current owner. The latter has exclusively maintained it with a renowned flat-4 specialist: DDS Automobile. According to these experienced professionals, this replica is of very high quality, worthy of „official“ replicas.

Condition:
Overall: The car is in very good overall condition, both aesthetically and mechanically.

Exterior: The car’s body is in remarkable condition. The soft top and its frames apparently come from a genuine Speedster; indeed, the mechanism closely resembles authentic hardware, fits perfectly, and has ideal tension. The wheels, chrome, and headlights are also in excellent condition.

Interior: The cabin is in very good condition. The seats look good, although a small upholstery repair is needed on the driver’s seat for the most demanding. The dashboard instruments are functional. A very elegant Motolita steering wheel is noted (worth close to €1,000). The car is equipped with a discreet immobilizer for added security.

Mechanical:
Mechanically, the engine is a 1200 cc unit producing 60 hp. It starts perfectly and offers a superb sound through the dual-outlet exhaust. The car received maintenance in March 2024, and the braking system was overhauled last year. The transmission is in good condition, with smooth shifting. The car’s road behavior is lively.
