Chassis #104 Bis Reconstruction:

This model is a perfect 906 reconstruction based on chassis #104 bis, which was itself a reproduction of chassis #104 – which happened to be one the three 906 imported to the USA in 1966 by Otto Zipper, and driven by none other than Ken Miles.

Crashed at the Tour Auto 2003:

In 2003, the owners of Chassis #104 bis took part in the 2003 Tour Auto in France and unfortunately crashed the car during a circuit race. The car burnt entirely, but luckily its crew escaped unharmed.

Rebuilt by Thierry & Franck Reynaud:

In 2016-2017, using the chassis number #104 bis, the car was entirely reconstructed from the bottom up (new chassis, engine, bodywork, parts etc.), under the supervision of famous Porsche period mechanics, manufacturers and experts Thierry & Franck Reynaud.

The car is equipped with a correct period Porsche 2.0L Flat six cylinders engine, a set of 4 spare period wheels, and it comes with a valid FIA HTP, making it eligible for any historic race such as the famous Le Mans Classic. Please note than the car is not currently road legal

Available at Boutsen Classic Cars:

Not finding the time to drive it enough – the car has done a 100+ kms shake down since being built – the current owner has chosen to sell it with Boutsen Classic Cars.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

Porsche 906 history:

The Porsche 906, or Carrera 6, introduced in 1966, marked a crucial period for Porsche’s racing evolution. Designed for endurance racing, it succeeded the 904 Carrera GTS and notably became the first Porsche to fully utilize lightweight materials, featuring a tubular steel chassis and a Fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) body. This innovative use of materials significantly reduced the car’s weight, enhancing its speed and handling. A standout moment in its history was the 906’s victory in the 1966 Targa Florio, where its agility and reliability triumphed over rivals with larger engines. Despite a short production run of about 50 units, the 906 left a lasting impact on the racing world, influencing Porsche’s future endeavors and setting a standard for lightweight design and performance excellence.
