- FULL HISTORY
The Porsche 987 Cayman S was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor show in September 2005 but did not go on sale until July 2006, this to ensure that the model was fully on point. The S suffix rightly stood for the sportier and more powerful version than the standard Cayman. Unlike the Boxster, the Cayman has a hatchback for access to luggage compartments above and behind the hood. The 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that stuck in the Cayman S was derived from the 3.2L they also used in the Boxster S. The Cayman S came standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and could be taken as an option on standard Cayman models.
