A Porsche for the purists! This perfectly maintained and recently (12-2023) thoroughly overhauled 911 Carrera 4S has 355 hp of naturally aspirated boxer power linked to a manual gearbox. The 997s with automatic transmission had a Tiptronic instead of a PDK transmission at the time, which automatically means that the manual gearbox is the version you want anyway. Because… Faster! This copy was originally delivered in French, but came to the Netherlands within 4 years. From that moment on, the 997 Carrera 4S has been in the hands of one and the same owner. Unique! Especially for connoisseurs, our Porsche is luxuriously equipped with items such as Alcantara, electric seat adjustment including memory function, Carrera Sport wheels, Bose audio and more.
Design
The Porsche 997 is an extra handsome evolution of „der Elfer“, especially because this series has a look & feel. feel is closer to the original than its direct predecessor. The front in particular is reminiscent of older models. Note, for example, the side and indicator lights that are placed together in separate units, right below the traditional round viewers. The 996 was the only one to do without this characteristic 911 feature. New was Porsche’s choice to make a version with 4 exhaust tips instead of a single one on each side. However, for this you had to switch to the more powerful Carrera S versions – or in this case the four-wheel drive Carrera 4S. Red brake calipers including white brand lettering emphasize the fiery performance. The 19-inch Carrera Sport multi-spoke design wheels were a popular option and this is also reflected in the current demand for pre-owned Porsches. With a body finished in classic black, the timeless 911 Coupe silhouette comes into its own. What more could an enthusiast want?
Equipment
The cockpit of this Elfer exudes at least as much tradition: the leather on the electrically operated seats is black, just like the dashboard – known for its 5 clustered round analogue counters and meters. In our 997 Carrera 4S they all have a white background. And of course the tachometer is proudly in the middle. The alternation between leather and Alcantara is special; You don’t often see that in a Porsche 911. Let alone from this generation. High-tech aluminum parts and contrast stitching in turn provide a fine color nuance on board the 4S Coupe. And although tradition is an asset, this sports car makes anything but a Spartan impression. For example, the electric seats have a memory function and the Porsche Communication Management (PCM for short) system makes full map navigation and hands-free calling possible. The built-in Cruise Control allows you to give your right foot some rest every now and then. Furthermore, the Bose sound system makes a valiant attempt to drown out the characteristic boxer rumble and the headlight washers help prevent you from having to make a pit stop due to poor visibility. Because well, once on the road…
Technology
An old-fashioned, nice 6-cylinder boxer engine is located in the back. Without interference from turbos or hybrid systems, the engine manages to distribute 355 horses to each of the 4 wheels. This means that the Porsche 997 Carrera 4S not only gets off to a strong start, but also generates more grip in treacherous conditions so that you can continue driving without fatigue. Because that’s what you want in this Elfer. The 3.8 liter power source is in excellent condition thanks to excellent maintenance. The Porsche specialist who recently looked into the technology of our 911 can also confirm after extensive service that this sports coupe has not lost any of its qualities, power and fun. The latter will especially appeal to you. Otherwise you wouldn’t fall for a manual transmission version, right? Anyone who can read and write with the 6-speed gearbox should be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h within 4.8 seconds. For comparison: the Tiptronic needs half a second more on paper. The top speed of 288 km/h is also slightly better (8 km/h) due to the lower vehicle weight. And the fewer kilos, the higher the maneuverability. But of course we don’t have to explain that to the expert. When are you coming to try it yourself?
