2002 Porsche 911 Turbo for sale!

Offered here is a 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera Coupe, black-on-black. Delivered new to Williams Auto World of Okemos, Michigan, the car was specially ordered (this would later come to be known as “Porsche Exclusiv“) with additional custom features including Porsche logos embossed in the seat headrests, 3-spoke leather-covered steering wheel, aluminum instrument dials, and aluminum shifter and brake handles. Included in the sale and shown in the gallery is the original factory window sticker listing all standard and optional features. The current odometer reading is 34,598 miles, or fewer than 1,800 miles per-year on average since new in the hands of its sole owner. A sparingly driven, well-kept Michigan sports car, it’s evident this special 911 Turbo never experienced winter roads.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

The exterior paint finish is excellent. Black-on-black is a longtime classic Porsche combination often chosen by purists. Here, the gloss is high and the surface smooth-as-glass. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) All body panels—including the Turbo-specific front fascia, rear (speed-deployed) spoiler, and rear-quarter panels—are free of dings, dents, or other damage. Even door handles, often the victims of minor scratches, are extremely well-kept. Lightly tinted cabin glass and all lighting lenses are clear and free of cracks. Badging, including the Porsche hood crest and simple script “turbo” rear model designations, is crisp and unfaded. “Turbo-twist” 18-inch wheels are mounted with Sumitomo® 225/50 front and 255/45 rear tires. The wheel openings allow unobstructed views of the Porsche-branded red brake calipers and cross-drilled brake rotors.

The black leather interior makes for a striking design statement adding drama to the black exterior. The flowing design of the dashboard, controls, and door panels is a 996 trademark. The leather upholstery on the front buckets and two rear jump seats is both simple and timeless. The optional aluminum touches on the 6-speed manual-transmission shifter and the emergency-brake lever add flair. All interior surfaces appear original to the car, and all have been maintained with care: there is no excessive wear much less damage to any hard-plastic surface, leather, or carpeting. The car’s black headliner shows no wear. Even the turbo-branded step-over door sills retain their original appearance. The optional, leather-covered 3-spoke, black steering wheel with Porsche center crest frames the full array of aluminum-faced analog gauges. The factory-installed Porsche CDR 220 audio head unit remains mounted in the center stack. Graphic markings on switchgear and instruments remain crisp; the dashboard is free of fading or cracking. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to best assess the outstanding condition of the Porsche’s various interior surfaces.)

Under the rear engine cover, the 3.6-liter, flat-6 engine rated at 415 horsepower when new occupies a clean and fully original-appearing engine bay. There are no indications of any performance modifications having been added. Viewed from below, the car’s chassis and lower surfaces show no damage; the clean lower-engine surfaces and undamaged original protective panels are especially noteworthy. (To best evaluate the condition of undercarriage surfaces, please review the gallery photos shot from below.)

The car’s factory-mounted identification and information tags remain in place. The owner’s manual, warranty booklet, and other literature are included in the sale.

The satisfaction that arises from owning a very well-kept, collectible, high-performance Porsche 911 Turbo are many and varied. Collectors often receive more compliments on these vintage Porsches than owners of even brand-new cars. Whether it’s the legendary performance on the road, the „996 Turbo“ distinction, the car’s beautiful design even when standing still, the sense that a well-equipped example is virtually a one-of-a-kind car, the heritage of the Zuffenhausen manufacturer, or the joy of knowing the owner is a steward for a car that may well live on for decades to come, owning such a Porsche delivers above and beyond what virtually any other brand can offer.

“An absolute joy to drive….” Hotcars.com, January 2021

The website’s retrospective on the 2002 911 Turbo continued: “While it was clear that the Turbo had a strong engine, this car was also worth praising for its ability to make driving so exciting and how it didn’t exhaust the driver on long rides. It was amazing to witness how the treasured Turbo reigned supreme in every department: The engine was mighty for its time, the exterior was eye-catching, and the car’s speed was insane. Even though production was short-lived, the Turbo was a leading example of the qualities that future sports cars should possess.”

“Overall, Porsche produced an excellent car that deserved the wonderful reviews it received. The 996 Turbo inspired automakers and revolutionized the sports car realm. The Germans knew how to amaze and set unprecedented standards that were hard to beat.”
