The History of the Porsche 996 GT3 RS
The 996 brought major changes compared to the previous 911: it was the first to be equipped with a water-cooled engine as well as a four-valve per cylinder distribution, with a completely redesigned exterior line and passenger compartment and a higher level of comfort. In light of these excessive innovations, it must be said that the purists considered it a totally new model and not a further step in the evolution of the 911, loudly contesting the rather showy „fried egg“ front lights that it supplanted for the first time the typical round headlight of the 911 and the Targa.
This lights, due to the complains, saw a clear restyling in 2001, when the 996 MK2 was proposed. With these tweaks, the headlight appeared incorporated into the bodywork in a more faithful way to the 911 tradition, thanks to a more rounded and graceful shape.
In addition to the aesthetic side, the MK2 went to improve numerous mechanical aspects, which in the pre-restyling had some defects in terms of reliability.
Another important novelty arrives in 2003, when the more racing version of the 996 series was presented, the GT3 RS. With the 996, in fact, the long dynasty of the GT3 RS began which continues today with today’s models.
The 996 is also the GT3 RS produced in the absolute fewest of all series, with a production of just 600 units, making it an extremely coveted item by Porsche collectors.

Our Porsche 996 GT3 RS
This beautiful Porsche 996 GT3 RS rolled off the production line of the Stuttgart factory in 2004, produced for the European market. At the time of purchase, it was equipped with various options such as the stereo with 6CD charger with the console mounted in the center of the dashboard and the blackout strip mounted on the upper part of the front glass to shield the sun’s rays. The Recaro sports seats mounted on the car are perfectly preserved, with no signs of wear, and with the right softness of padding. The rear rollbar ensures greater rigidity and safety during the toughest sessions on the track. The engine revs rapidly, accompanied by the unmistakable melody of the „flat six aspirated“, all combined with a refined 6-speed manual gearbox.
