This 2004 Carrera 4S was delivered new to dealership The Collection in Coral Gables, FL in December of 2003, and remained in Florida until coming to Washington in 2018. Finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a Graphite Gray interior, the car shows 56,309 miles at the time of cataloging and benefits from some recent servicing. The black paint looks stunning on the wide rear fenders and is improved further by the facelifted 996 chrome headlights and smoked tails – which are now paired with matching clear corner marker lights. On the interior, Graphite Gray leather covers the seats, door cards, steering wheel and shifter, and the carpets and dashboard are finished to match. The wonderful feeling 3-spoke steering wheel frames the 996’s take on Porsche’s famed 5-gauge dashboard, and the center stack retains the original Bose hi-fi system.
Powering the 996 Carrera 4S is a 3.6-Liter version of Porsche’s M96 water-cooled flat-6. In the C4S, it was good for 320 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm while making that wonderful 996 sound. This then sends power to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The wonder of this all-wheel drive system is that in nearly every situation, the front wheels only receive 5% of the engine’s power, but when slip is detected, up to 40% can make its way forward, meaning this is an exceptionally capable sports car for all weather conditions. The 996 is a great entry into the world of the 911 and the Carrera 4S is without a doubt, one of the most special cars to come from that generation. This example is offered in an appealing color combination and with considerable recent service history.
