PORSCHE 964 RS Lightweight 1992
Porsche developed 964 RS in 1991 to qualify to FIA Group N/GT. The intial production was 1000 cars by end of 1991, but in total Porsche produced 2051 different versions of the 964 RS. There were four basic versions of the car: Sport /Lightweight, Carrera Cup (001), Touring (002) and Competition – N/GT (003).
This car is original matching numbers 964 RS Sport/Lightweight confirmed by Porsche ”Farzeug Informationen”. Sport version was a stripped out version of the Carrera 2. It used 3,6 liter standard flat 6 twin-spark engine. specially build for the RS cars with lighter flywheel and re-chipped to 260bhp The suspension was lowered 40mm and the brakes came from the Turbo in the front and from the 964 Cup car in the back. The car was lightened with many other details e.g. simple door trims, aluminium front lid, minimal sound isolation and thinner side class. The car has its original STM made 17”magnesium wheels. The standard Sport/ Lightweight version weighted 1220 kg .
This car was build in June 1992. The car was originally delivered in Germany by Porsche Center Dusseldorf in April 1993. All the original factory stickers are still in the car.
