The 964 Carrera N/GT project was directly inspired by the 964 Carrera Cup, designed to replace the 944 Turbo Cup from 1991 in France.
The 964 RS was to have been called the 964 Carrera N/GT, before the Stuttgart-based manufacturer opted at the last minute for the name “Carrera RS” (RennSport).
While 1,590 units of the 911 2.7 RS were produced, Porsche’s objective was to produce 1,000 units of the 964 RS to enable its customers to compete in a European championship.
As a result, more than a year elapsed between its presentation in 1990 and its launch on the market. Porsche wanted to homologate its 911 in this group, thus delaying the launch of the 964 Carrera RS.
The first models rolled off the assembly line in the ’92 model year, so much so that some called it (and still do) “RS 92”.
Vehicle of French origin, sold by Porsche Mitsubishi Luxauto (Le Cannet).
This fine example has had four owners since leaving the factory. It was sold to its second owner on December 15, 1992, then to a third in November 1997, before being acquired by its current owner in May 2022.
The vehicle is matching numbers. Its history is well known and documented, with a large number of invoices collected in a comprehensive binder which will accompany the car.
It has been appraised twice: once in 1997 by the Martel firm, then again in 2022 by Stéphane Bonoron, just before its latest acquisition. These appraisals attest to the car’s traceability and authenticity.
A service was carried out in November 2023 at Porsche Classic Vélizy, with an upgrade costing €12,500. The engine was returned to its original condition, with the exception of the camshaft, the result of a previous preparation.
The car is in perfect working order, offering sound mechanicals in keeping with the RS spirit.
The bodywork is sound, with paintwork redone several years ago in its original shade.
The interior is entirely original, clean and well preserved, with the model’s characteristic equipment: leather Recaro bucket seats, RS steering wheel, and Clubsport-style light-alloy Heigo roll bar.
The vehicle is fitted with a special exhaust system. Also included in the sale is a personalized protective cover offered at the time by Sonauto.
This Porsche 964 RS is destined for a discerning enthusiast looking for an authentic, expressive example with a very well-balanced configuration.
The car will be serviced prior to sale.
It can be viewed by appointment in Neuilly-sur-Seine, with its complete paper file: history, invoices and expert reports.
