Porsche 911 930 Turbo 3.3

Unique find! This perfectly dealer-maintained Porsche 930 Turbo 3.3 boasts an impressive history. A history in which Pon plays an important role, as the classic Elfer has always been flawlessly maintained there. We are talking about the past 30 years, because that is how long the 930 has been in the hands of its former owner! In short, the enthusiast looking for an original Porsche 911 Turbo with a demonstrable history, fantastic condition and a wonderfully pure driving experience has the ideal car in this Prins Classic. Moreover, the yellow bodywork is an absolute rarity and a real neck-turner! PS Widowmaker is a nickname that leaves the single Porsche fanatic completely cold. Or do you have your right foot under control anyway? Hereby we challenge you!

History

The Porsche 930 Turbo is as famous as it is infamous. The fast-stepping butt has caused a lot of sweaty hands in the past, after which the blown 911 was nicknamed “Widowmaker.” This unique example, however, is from a much later series, where handling had been significantly improved. At the same time, the engine capacity was boosted from 3.0 to 3.3 liters, so the speed experience has by no means been tempered over the years. And rightly so. This particular example was registered new in Luxembourg after its successor, the 964, was already ready. This makes it one of the youngest 930s. That it looks fresh, however, has several reasons: from the moment that the 911 Turbo has been faithful to the Netherlands, now for 30 years, its maintenance has been regularly and punctually taken care of by Pon Dealer. No Dutch concern is closer to the Porsche fire than Pon! The blown 930 has been owned by the same owner for exactly the same length of time. It makes this particular example extra special and valuable, because the history is fully traceable and we know that the Porsche has been treated with the same precision and care all this time. Surely this should appeal to the enthusiast…?!

Exterior
No mortal can ignore our yellow menace. Yes, the striking body color is (partly) responsible for this. But the fine condition also has its share of making many a lower jaw lose out to gravity. The later 930 Turbo series with 3.3 engine is easily recognized by its “tea tray” rear spoiler: a raised version of the “whale tail,” because Porsche had to make room for an intercooler somewhere, after all. In combination with yellow, the contrasting effect of the black surround + cooling vents on that same spoiler is all the more impressive. This same black is reflected in the heart of the Fuchs rims, parts of the bumpers and the stone chips on the (far) wide rear fenders. Of course, the distinctive 911 silhouette was not compromised!

Interior & equipment
Speaking of black edges, they betray the presence of an electric sunroof. In fact, unlike today, the sunroof itself is painted in body color instead of being made of glass. All the more you can enjoy the yellow outfit! In terms of interior trim, Porsche liked to keep it business-like: black leather is interspersed with black plastics and black headliner. Even the 5 clustered counters in the wide instrument panel have a black background. The electric seat height adjustment of the sport seats shows that the look is more minimalist and spartan than the equipment. In a classic Porsche 911 Turbo, you won’t be short of anything!

Technology & performance
You only have to look at the accelerator pedal or the thrill of the 930 is already palpable. The driving experience is dangerously delicious, though not as aggressive as in the first series. Improved handling makes the rear end less likely to take on a life of its own. At the same time, output improved since the introduction of the larger 3.3-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged boxer engine: 300 horses disappear toward the rear axle via a 5-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just over 5 seconds, and the top speed at 260 km/h is well above many a modern, electronically tuned sports car. With such performance, the Porsche 930 Turbo clearly distances itself from the less powerful versions based on the 911 G-series. When do you plan to do the same?

Kind regards,
team Prins.
