Launched in 1975, the Type 930 was unmistakably a member of the Porsche 911 family, but was characterized by muscular new bodywork, wide Fuchs alloy wheels, a “whale tail” spoiler, and a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine. With a top speed of 155 mph, the formidable 930 soon became the performance benchmark for sports car manufacturers.
This extraordinary example was purchased new from Niello Porsche in Sacramento by Ronald Sakauye of Saratoga, California, in February 1980. Mr. Sakauye drove the Porsche just under 6,000 miles, and the consignor believes it was only driven for about a year before being placed in a self-storage unit, where it remained until he purchased it in 2018. A thick layer of dust was carefully removed, and the car received mechanical attention from veteran Porsche specialist Don Wise’s Autowerks of Campbell, California.
The 930 is remarkably complete, including 1980 California registration and 1981 license plates, tool kit (including gloves), tire pump, floor mats, sales brochure, and Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires that the consignor believes to be the originals. In its stunning original color of light blue metallic, this 930 is a fascinating and rare find. With its original paperwork and accessories, stunning condition, recent mechanical attention, extremely low mileage, and single family ownership until 2018, this 930 may check all the boxes for the discerning Porsche enthusiast who demands the very best.
