1979 Porsche 3.3 Turbo in Hellblau Metallic

This handsome 930 was completed at the Zuffenhausen factory in 1980 and delivered to its first owner in Germany. The car stayed in Germany for a while after which it moved to the Netherlands to finally arrive in Belgium around 2011. The car was chosen in the bright Light Blue metallic over blue leather interior. Besides the striking color combination the car has the full leather sports seats and no sunroof!

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

This 3.3 liter Porsche 930 Turbo is really completely redone, a real nut & bolt restoration around 2015-2016. A lot of photos of the restoration are available to proof the amount of work that was done. The 3.3 liter flat 6 engine produces an impressive 300 horsepower at 5500 rpm. The Turbo comes to life between 3000 and 3500 rpm, offering unparalleled boost that is rarely matched. With its classic 911 charm and distinctive spoiler, this car strikes a perfect balance between elegance and style.

The car still retains it matching number motor and gearbox and comes with a date stamped spare wheel & restoration pictures. The rims are original Fuchs turbo wheels. Since its restoration the car has been used only to a limited extent and in recent years it has largely been stored in the garage. Paint is still in immaculate condition and has a nice and even depth and gloss.

In its time, the 930 Turbo was one of the most raw and pure cars on the market and now it has rightly earned its legendary name. Today it has Belgian registration and was recently inspected. The engine is completely dry, starts at the turn of the key and runs amazingly with perfect oil pressure. Shifting is quick and very smooth!

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-maintained and untouched iconic Turbo in a beautiful and rare livery.

The car currently has Belgian registration and is sold on behalf of a customer

THE 930 TURBO

Much of the Porsche 911’s development had resulted from the factory’s racing programme, which spurred the development of ‚Project 930‘: the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0-litre Carrera RSR engine, in road trim a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. But the Turbo wasn’t just about top speed, it was also the best-equipped 911 and amazingly flexible – hence only four speeds in the gearbox – being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph (161km/h) in 14 seconds.

What set the 911 Turbo apart from its peers was the relaxed way this performance was delivered. Comparing the Turbo to similarly quick ‚he-man‘ cars such as the Holman & Moody-tuned Cobra 427 and the Ford GT40, Motor’s Roger Bell reckoned what made the Porsche so different was that it „hurls you forward with similar velocity but in an uncannily quiet and effortless way. To be shoved so hard in the back that you need high-back seats to keep your head on, yet neither to feel nor hear anything more than a muffled hum, is a very odd sensation indeed in a car“.

The Turbo’s characteristic flared wheel arches and ‚tea tray‘ rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model, while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. For 1978 the Turbo’s engine was enlarged to 3.3 litres, gaining an inter-cooler in the process; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed of what was the fastest-accelerating road car of its day went up to 257km/h. The Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.
