1973 Porsche 911 T Coupe

Beautifully presented example of the classic and desirable long-hood 911, presented in what is believed to be as-delivered, era-evoking Sepia Brown

The Porsche 911 T (Touring) was launched for the 1968 model year, initially with a 2.0-liter flat-six engine. It gained an additional 200 cc for 1969 and later reached its final evolution at 2.4-liters by 1972. Tenacious adhesion, responsive steering, tremendous flexibility, superb brakes, a meticulous finish, and a solid, resilient feel were just some of the virtues praised by the press when testing the 911 T in 1973, with that model year marking the end of the first generation, long-hood 911.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

This desirable 911 came off the Stuttgart-based Porsche production line during November of 1972, as a 1973 model-year US-market mechanically fuel-injected (MFI) T Coupe. Inspecting the car today, one will find what appears to be original factory-applied Sepia Brown paint in jambs and fender wells, indicating that this well-preserved car left the factory in the same era-evoking color in which it appears today. The comprehensive history file accompanying the sale of this Porsche contains many handwritten notes by its previous owner Jack Wallace, a retired NASA engineer from Cupertino, California, who would own the car from the mid-1980s until 2023.

These notes also indicate the car being owned by J.D. Larkin of Saratoga, California in 1974, and then by Jo Jackson from Palo Alto, California from around 1977 when Wallace acquired the car. Hundreds of receipts dating back to 1974 indicate fastidious service, maintenance, and refurbishment work carried out during the next several decades, including an engine rebuild by Jerry Woods in 1994, whereby the noted Porsche specialist enlarged the engine capacity to 2.7-liters. In doing so, he retained what is believed to be the original type 911/59 engine case, which according to Porsche literature falls in line with the chassis number sequence for a 1973 US-market 911 T Coupe equipped with MFI. A respray of the exterior bodywork has been carried out in the correct Sepia Brown color, and in 2015, the interior was refurbished with new seat covers by Autos International.

Most recently, this well-kept 911 was treated to a comprehensive cosmetic detailing by the renowned specialists at I Am Detailing in Costa Mesa, California. Today, this lovely Porsche presents very well inside and out, still adorned by what appears to be its original blue and yellow California license plates, indicating its treasured time in the mild climate most likely since new. In addition to the comprehensive history file, the 911 is offered with a tool kit and correct jack.
