After the SC model (1978-1983), Porsche was going to stop producing the 911, the 928 would replace this model.
However, due to the great success of the SC, it was decided to continue with the 911, in addition to the 928.
In 1983, Porsche debuted with a convertible version of the 911, before that you could only buy the Targa model.
This was also the last year of production of the SC, in other words, the 911 SC convertible was only built for one year, hence the limited edition of only 4124 Porsche 911 SC convertibles.
This car was purchased new in Santa Monica, California and had three owners.
The original maintenance booklet is present, it is stamped to 1989.
The second owner had the car from 2002 to 2007.
The third and last owner from Las Vegas had the car since 2007 until he passed away in 2023.
In August 2023, the car was exported to the Netherlands.
The car has never had an accident, this can also be deduced from the present Carfax report.
Interesting fact in the Carfax report: in 1997 the car was stolen and found a month later.
The last owner (since 2007) had a lot of mechanical work done to keep the car in top condition. There are many invoices for maintained and replaced parts since 2008. This shows that the car has always been well maintained.
A new convertible top was installed in 2011.
According to the seller in California, the engine was overhauled in 2018. However, there is no invoice for this. In any case, the engine looks very clean with many new parts. The engine starts and runs excellently.
During the restoration in Belgium in 2024, the car was converted to European specifications:
European headlights, indicators and bumper pushers. The speedometer has not been changed and is still in miles, this was done deliberately so as not to fiddle with the number of miles/kilometers driven.
The car is currently also registered and is sometimes driven in good weather.
The last technical inspection was on September 10, 2024, this shows that the car is 100% technically sound.
The car is equipped with turbo seats with electric controls for the driver, and a Porsche Clubsport steering wheel. The car also has air conditioning but is currently not working.
