The 911 Weissach Edition was produced in 400 units in total, 200 in black metallic and 200 painted in platinum metallic. The black paint called ,,Sonderfarbe Schwarz Metallic’’ was exclusively created for this limited edition and found its way into the regular Porsche color board not until the late eighties. Many years before Porsche regularly offered the ,,aero-kit’’, as an extra for the 3.2 Carrera, this special run 911 was equipped with a front and a rear spoiler. The rear wing (,,whale tail’’) was taken from the 1977 Turbo Carrera / 1976 Carrera 3.0 and modified in order to fit the non-turbo car. It is a full fiberglass lightweight spoiler with a metal framing which can, in this exact shape, only be found on the Weissach edition. The wide 15 inch fuchs alloy wheels with a centre in platinum metallic are another special feature, which can usually just be found on Carrera 3.0s or early 930s.
But the most significant feature of this model definitely is the exclusively manufactured interior. This supercarrera has a three tone full leather interior containing red, doric grey and black. The upholstery of the turbo-sporting seats is made from perforated leather in doric grey with a red welt, the same red which can be found in the matching carpets of the car. The perforated black leatherette ceiling really brings the atmosphere inside this 911 to a round figure and creates an aroused and sporty atmosphere.
By now the Weissach registry contains a number of 120 cars of this model. At a guess there are probably 200 survivors left in the world today, making this special run 911 a highly desirable collectors car.
This particular example is quite special
It came to the Netherlands 5 years ago but was owned by the same owner for more then 34 years. A large file of receipts and events depict a picture of the car’s adventures. It has been driven 88000 miles from new and the service manuals and receipts show it was loved.
A Weissach edtion is always special but to buy one from the second owner is even more rare.
The last owner gave the car a mechanical restoration. The gearbox and engine where rebuild by a specialist. I drove the car and can tell from first hand that is feels much more potent than 185bhp.
We love Porsche sportscars, we love special cars, we love cars with a great history, so this car epitomizes what we stand for at The Automobile Store.
