1972 Porsche 911 S for sale!

This car was delivered new in France, initially in ivory white. Its history can be traced back to 1993, when it clocked up 72,490 km. Since then, it has had 3 owners, the last one acquiring it in 2014 from a recognized specialist who had carried out a complete restoration of the car from a bare body.

It was restored in this signal yellow hue, which suits it much better than the original ivory. It still has its original engine and gearbox, and the production number has also been checked. The bodywork is very good, with high-quality paintwork. The car shows no signs of corrosion or accidents. The original interior is well preserved, and we will be fitting a compliant steering wheel to the car for sale.

The first 911 made its appearance at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show under the name “Type 901”. Initially designed as a successor to the Porsche 356, it quickly won unanimous approval among sports car enthusiasts.

Its name, Type 901, posed a problem for the famous French marque Peugeot, which saw the name as a violation. Since 1929, Peugeot had been using a three-digit numbering system with a 0 in the middle for the names of its cars. So, in November 1964, Ferry Porsche decided to change his name, and that’s how the famous 911 came about.

The car was originally marketed in 1964 with a 2-liter, six-cylinder engine developing 130 hp, followed in 1966 by an S version with 160 hp and a top speed of 225 kph. Its distinguishing feature was its 15-inch Fuchs wheels. Targa versions were available from 1967, followed in 1968 by other 911 models such as the T and E.

In 1969, the displacement of all 911s was increased to 2.2 liters, with the same three models: T (125 hp), E (155 hp) and S (180 hp). Later, in 1972, the 2.2-liter was replaced by a 2.4-liter, thus increasing the horsepower of each model. The 911 T had 140 hp, the 911 E 165 hp and the most powerful 911 S
190.

The main features of the 911 2.45 are the chrome-plated turn signal surrounds and, above all, the oil trap on the right rear fender.

1973 was the last year of production for 1st-generation 911s, known as the “F” body with its metal bumpers and narrow body.
