While in the UK is has been seen and serviced by known specialists to ensure it’s in perfect working order and future proofed, its last UK service in December 2022 at 91,160 km (56,644 Miles).
Present with the car is a folder of Japanese history, UK invoices, V5 and a set of keys.
EXTERIOR
The race-bred design of the 993 GT is unmistakable, with its vast rear wing and top mounted intakes to feed the engine, as well as the factory bolt on arches and aero front bumper which provide additional width to accommodate the track focused wide-section track and tyres.
Presented in its factory designated shade of Polar Silver the aggressive lines of this near identical GT2 recreation look spectacular and cosmetically identical to the homologation car. So much so that it is impossible to tell the two apart having had both this and the real deal sat next to each other in our showroom.
Ordered as new to Japan as a 993 Turbo it is believed the first owner was unable to get a GT2 at the time and commissioned the Porsche dealer in period to build his Turbo into one. The same method of which the factory built the homologation cars, taking the 993 Turbo as a base.
INTERIOR
Much like the exterior, no aspect was overlooked in creating a suitable GT2 style interior. subtle details can be seen throughout the cabin with lightweight door cards featuring red pulls, tonal red seat belts and a set of genuine lightweight carpets in place of the rear seats, featuring red GT embroidery at their centre. A Factory 993 lightweight leather steering wheel is the final touch that really rounds off an exquisite space, staying true to the lightweight ethos of the GT2 whilst retaining a luxurious edge.
Improving the GT’s usability, an of age styled Continental radio has been fitted with the benefit of Bluetooth connectivity.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 993 Turbo engine was near identical to the GT2 unit but with modified boost pressure, which has been replicated in this case producing extra power with the help of some higher boost pressure. The Turbo power is potent; hitting 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and topping out at 187 mph it’s still considered hugely fast 20 years on and this example feels every bit as quick as the GT2.
The turbo gearbox remains in place with the drive train converted to rear wheel drive in keeping with it’s GT2 idol and removing any excess weight from these components.
Always serviced and maintained while in Japan and during its short period in the UK it is in perfect working order.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Completing the lightweight package are a set of genuine 18″ Speedline split rims, with painted centres and polished rims they show in fantastic condition, with the laser etched Speedline logo still clearly visible on each rim.
A set of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres were fitted with the suspension geometry checked and aligned just recently, in addition to this new front brake pads, discs and a brake fluid change ensures the car drives as well as it did the day it left the factory.
Running the GT2 wide track but with turbo suspension dampers with lower springs the car sits correctly but rides with more compliance on the road
