Upon the cars arrival, some minor works had been carried out by XS Racing. However, 2 years later, Tuthill went about turning this into an FIA-approved regularity rally car. The list of works carried out during this process included:
-
- Full Shell Preparation
- Full Suspension Overhaul, Including Bilstein Dampers
- Full Engine Overhaul
- Full Gearbox Overhaul
- Full Brake Overhaul
- All Rally Equipment Fitted (Steering Wheel, Seats, Harness, Spotlights, Cage, Extinguishers, Map Lights etc)
The car was then enjoyed on many events over the next 10 years. It competed on the Legs of Mann, Le Jog, and Rally of the Tests to name but a few. It was looked after and serviced by the current owner’s local garage the whole time.
In the past 5 years the car hasn’t moved much and has been kept in storage. Following this time, we have just had the car re-commissioned in preparation for sale by Tuthill including the following:
-
- Full Fluid Service
- New Steering Rack
- New Oil Tank
- New Battery & Isolator Switch
- 4 x New Tyres
- New Gas Bonnet Struts
- New Bonnet Pull Cable
Furthermore the car is a matching numbers example for its chassis and engine, so we believe it would serve well to either a new owner who wants to carry on with its historic rallying story or to undergo a restoration given its very early chassis number.
We would welcome anyone who would like to come and view the car at our Bicester Heritage showroom to give us a call to arrange, and of course, if you have any questions, please do get in touch.
