This 1981 model was built in February 81′ and was sold by Ogner Porsche in Woodland Hills, CA to its first owner on April 4, 1981. The car was special ordered in Pacific Blue Metallic over Black leather interior. The options fitted include the Competition Group (this would later be standard on S trim cars after 1983) which included front and rear spoilers, and 16-inch forged alloy wheels with 225/50/16 tires and also featured larger ventilated disk brakes. Other options include quite rare leather sport seats, leather dash-console-door trims, limited slip differential, power sunroof, digital Blaupunkt am/fm cassette stereo, and passenger mirror. The car remained in CA until 1994 when the owner retired and moved the car up to the NW where it would be driven only occasionally until it was put into long term storage in 2007. In 2019 the 928 was brought out of storage and over the next 6 months had its timing belt/water pump replaced, new battery fitted, alternator replaced, fuel pump, lines, pressure regulators, and relays replaced, shift bushings replaced, new tires fitted, other filters and fluids changed.
It is pretty unique to find an early 928 that is this original and unmolested right down to the federally mandated 85 MPH speedometer which is still fitted to the gauge cluster, many of these were swapped out by owners due to the insanity of our government and their 55 MPH speed obsessed nannies at the time. The car wears all of its original Pacific Blue paintwork aside from the passenger door which was said to have been repainted due to a scratch from a granddaughter’s bicycle mishap in the garage. The interior is in great condition, the seats show very little usage, the dash is in good condition with common minimal shrinkage on the passenger side but still presents well. The air conditioning blows cold, and the heater functions to spec. Both windows go up/down quickly and gauges/lights function as designed. The sunroof is slow but does operate, the rear wiper functions correctly and a new hatch latch liner has just been installed. The original, optional 928 scripted floor mats are also in good condition and are impossible to obtain today. The car retains its tool kit, spare tire, jack, owner’s manual set, radio manual, 2 keys, original sales brochure, and recent service history along with a clean CarFax report and clear WA title in the original owner’s name.
