Introduced at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is already attracting the attention of Porsche purists. This 911 revives the Touring Pack designation, introduced in 1973 by the legendary 911 RS 2.7.
Indeed, this model is the same as the Porsche GT3 except for a few details… The chassis of the Touring version is identical to the original GT3. From the front, the differences between the two cars are few, but the biggest change is at the rear. The GT3 Touring has been stripped of its massive fixed spoiler and replaced by the 911 Carrera’s more modest, self-deploying spoiler to help with high-speed handling. Finally, a GT3 Touring logo will be placed on the engine cover grille.
As for the interior, the Alcantara present in the original GT3 will be replaced by smooth leather. More importantly, the gearshift on the center console guarantees the exclusive installation of a six-speed mechanical gearbox like in the 911 R. No changes for the usual Porsche details, we will find the key on the left side of the steering wheel and the rev counter in the center of the dashboard.
As for the engine, nothing changes compared to the GT3 and track enthusiasts will be delighted. Derived from the 911 RSR and GT3 Cup, the 4-liter naturally aspirated 6-cylinder boxer engine still develops 500 horsepower and is still capable of 9,000 rpm in the middle gears. This engine allows it to have a top speed of 316 km/h and to do the 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
As you can see, this GT3 Touring is versatile. The owners of this sober model are therefore not forbidden to go on excursions on the road as well as on the track.
