The car is in very good condition. There is no trace of rust or accident. The adjustments are good. The painting was made a few years ago and presents pretty well.
In mechanics, the car works perfectly. We drove back from Bourges by road. The operation of the engine is impeccable. The climbs are good, the box does not hang. The chassis is very well tuned, the car is very fun on small roads.
History
At the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche unveils its # 5 prototype called „901“. But at the official launch of its new GT, Porsche must rename them 911 because Peugeot had already filed all three-digit denominations with a 0 in the middle. Until 1967, Porsche will sell more than 10,000 copies of its GT that will become a reference in the world of sports car.
It is this year that a range is available around the same body (coupe and targa) with the same Flat 6 with two liters of displacement but with different powers.
Until August 1968, the 911 will remain with the famous short chassis (SWB). Porsche will then try to bring a solution to the very characteristic handling of the Porsche 911. The technicians of the factory modify their flagship model and increases the wheelbase of the 911 of 5.8 cm to go from 2,210 m to 2,268 m. If 5.8 cm seem little on paper, they are enough to significantly improve the handling of the Porsche 911, without distorting its character that is all its charm …
The 2.0 that equipped the since its launch will be replaced in 1969 by a 2.2, still with the nomenclatures T (125 hp), E (155 hp), and S (180 hp), coupled to the box 901 in dogleg.
