A swan song for the model, the Porsche 996 Turbo S was a one-year-only model introduced in 2005. Built in limited numbers, the Turbo S was distinguished from the regular Turbo by standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), six-disc CD changer, aluminum-faced instrumentation, quad exhaust pipes, badging, and an X50 power kit which increased output from 415 to 444 hp. Zero to 60 mph in four seconds and a quoted top speed of 190 mph placed the Turbo S firmly in supercar territory for the time.
