Like the 911 itself, the Porsche Turbo has gone through a consistent evolution rather than a total revolution during its production run. This is especially true of the Turbo’s early years, when from 1975 to 1989 it was more commonly referred to by the internal model designation „930“. In those 14 years, the 930 evolved from a fast performance weapon to a somewhat more advanced supercar. Over the years it became faster, of course, but the Turbo also became more efficient and easier to drive.
From its more humble beginnings as a four-speed 3.0-liter and 260-horsepower whale tale in the 1970s, the 930 had turned into a 3.3-liter intercooled by the mid-1980s. In its last production year 1989, the 930 got a 5-speed gearbox. That’s why the 930’s produced in 1989 are the most sought after. The five-speed gearbox makes better use of the explosive power of the Turbo.
This 930 is one of only 724 convertibles produced in 1989 with the G50 gearbox. The car was originally delivered in New York on February 06, 1989. The first owner sold the car to Belgium in 2008 to the second (and also last) owner, who imported the car in Belgium.
The exterior color of the car is Guards Red and is combined with a black full leather interior. The 1989 Turbos already were very fully equipped from factory, with such as an electrically operated convertible roof, air conditioning, central door locking, etc. In addition, the following options were added on top:
- 139 – Seat heating left
- 158 – Radio Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46
- 220 – limited slip differential 40%
- 243 – shortened shift lever
- 340 – Seat heating right
- 494 – Amplifier
- 586 – Lumbar support
The car is in a very nice and perfectly original condition with only 35,104 miles! The paint is still the original factory paint and is in incredible condition! This 930 comes with the original owner’s manuals and service booklets in their leather case, the original tool roll, original compressor jack and service invoices.
In short, a top collector!
