The Porsche 964 book for enthusiasts
The Porsche 911 from the 964 series is an exceptional member of the 911 family with unique features. It was a bridge between the old G-model and the already very modern Porsche 993, so the Porsche 964 benefited from the best of both worlds. The Porsche 964 still had the classic profile of the very first 911, which was introduced in 1963 as the 901. It combined the classic shape with a modern drive train and, in the case of the Carrera 4, with an innovative all-wheel drive system. Added to this were the usual features of the time such as ABS brakes, power steering, airbags, central locking and a decent heating system. All this was powered by a powerful air-cooled Flat-Six Boxer engine coupled with a perfect manual gearbox. It was Porsche’s new 911 for the coming years and could even be called “the modern classic”.
